Smokie and Bandit Love Their Forever Home in Maine
We adopted these dogs years ago from NACC. Smokie was 3 months at the time and didn't have a name, and Bandit had the name Nelly before we changed it because, well, she has a habit of stealing. Sneaky little monster. We are in Maine now, and I wanted to give you all an update. Even though they were adopted years apart, it's like they've known each other forever. Swimming and running through the woods and having a ball in the country. It was my ex-husband and myself who adopted them. They are spoiled furbabies. Car rides and trips to the farm and the lakes. Rabbit chasing and duck catching.
We know some people give up their animals after divorce, but they are our children, so we split our time with them just like children in divorce do.  They stay with their Mommy and their Daddy comes to visit. They are still in our loving hands.

Coco Finds New Home and Now Chills by the Pool!

We visited the Norfolk Animal Adoption Center in March looking for a second dog for a playmate for "Rosie" (a Redbone Hound dog). We found a great, friendly  tan Lab -Retriever mix and loved her. The staff at your NACC was excellent, friendly and helpful supporting our search. We came back for a meet and greet with Rosie, and all went well.

We have had Coco for a couple weeks and she is GREAT. She adapted well to her new home and loves to go out for walks or sit on our porch watching the birds.

Stephanie was our dog handler who assisted us and is a great representative for your Norfolk Center. Thank you for all you do to save pets and assist in families adopting animals. Attached is picture of Coco hanging out by the pool.

Season's Greetings

Season’s Greetings! This year, I was blessed in adopting Sadie, a Norfolk terrier mix, from the NACC (left).

Thanks to all of the wonderful staff and volunteers, who helped bring us together, Sadie is growing in stature, health, and happiness every month. She is such sweet company to me and her best bud, Jackie (AKA, Zander, also from NACC -- right) ) as we prepare for the rest of our family to come home for the holidays. Sadie loves to visit with everyone and gets lots of extra belly rubs!

We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Sincerely, Sabra

Friendship at First Sight

Hello!  My name is Lada and I wanted to share an update on my "happy tail" with Leonidas, formerly known as Grayson at the NACC.

In mid-November, I was dropping off some donations and went for a stroll in the cat section to see how the cats were doing. I guess I must have had a feeling about what would come next!

Then, Grayson saw me first and decided that I was to be his human. He began playing with me through the glass and after a while, I could not help but ask to take him out and see how we would mesh.

Disregarding the smell of hand sanitizer, the 7-month-old little cat melted in my arms and began to purr. I immediately knew that he would be a beautiful complement to my 2-year-old cat Hector, a sweet and loving cat in need of another furry friend. I knew I wanted a second cat but was waiting for a perfect match, and this was it! Less than half an hour later, Grayson and his meager belongings were on their way to a forever home!

I followed the instructions of the helpful staff and online resources, introducing Hector and Leo very slowly. I put Leo in a separate room and engaged all their senses before they met face to face. When they finally did, it was friendship at first sight that melted my heart! Today, almost 3 months after the day I brought Leo home, he is a happy, loving, outgoing, quickly-growing and playful kitten, and a best friend Hector could have asked for! The two are inseparable and literally take turns eating and playing with toys to make sure they both get a chance. And as for me, I can feel Leo's gratitude for this new chance at life through his affection and loyalty. Hector and Leo are cherished as they should be and want for absolutely nothing. I am a proud "mom" and our little family is happy and complete. The end!

I am attaching some photos of Leo (the gray kitten) and Hector, the tuxedo cat. Wishing all the best to other happy owners and more tales like mine,

 Lada, Hector, Leonidas
